Where Are the Shapes? Position Worksheet

The Where Are the Shapes? worksheet is a one-page kindergarten math printable for shape recognition and position language. Children look at the same six-shape board for every question, then write the shape that is below or left of another shape.

At age 6, children are often ready to compare shapes in a busier picture, but small details can still trip children up. A child may know a square alone, then stall when a rectangle, circle, oval, and triangle are nearby.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child and read one prompt at a time. For example, ask the child to find the square first, move a finger below the square, and write rectangle in the answer field.

The worksheet is useful because every prompt uses the same board, so children practice looking carefully instead of starting over with a new picture each time. The side-by-side layout keeps the model and writing space close, which helps children stay focused during a short, screen-free math moment.
