Where Are the Shapes? is a one-page kindergarten math worksheet that practices shape recognition and position words on one shared six-shape board. Children look at the same board for every prompt and write the shape that is right of, left of, or below another shape.
At age five, many children can name a square or circle during play, but kids stall when direction words join the task. Practice with right of, left of, and below helps children connect shape names to location, which supports early math talk and careful looking.
Sit beside the child and start with the square. Ask the child to point to the shape right of the square, then write hexagon in the field. Continue with the hexagon prompts, circle is right of the hexagon, rectangle is below the hexagon, and square is left of the hexagon.
