Where Are the Shapes? Shape Position Worksheet

The Where Are the Shapes? worksheet is a one-page Grade 1 math printable that practices shape recognition and position words together. Children use the same six-shape board to answer four prompts about a circle, square, triangle, hexagon, and oval.

Seven-year-olds often know shape names, but kids can stall when a prompt asks for a shape left of, right of, or below another shape. Practice with spatial words helps children read math directions more carefully and match words to what eyes see on the page.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child, point to the reference shape named in each prompt, and ask, “What shape is right of the square?” or “What shape is below the circle?” The child then writes the answer in the field, using the board to check each choice.

The worksheet is useful because every question refers to the same board, so children can focus on careful looking instead of searching through new pictures each time. Clear learning models, a side-by-side layout, and simple writing fields make the page easy to use during homework, small groups, or quiet practice.
