Where Are the Shapes? Position Worksheet

Where Are the Shapes? is a one-page kindergarten math worksheet for shape recognition and simple position words. A child looks at one six-shape board, then writes the shape that is right of the triangle, right of the oval, right of the hexagon, and left of the circle.

At age 6, many children can name a triangle, oval, circle, hexagon, and square during play, then get stuck when the question adds left and right. That pause is normal. The worksheet gives children a calm way to connect a shape name with a place on a row.

Sit beside your child and point to the reference shape first. Say, “Find the hexagon. Now look right of the hexagon. What shape do you see?” Let your child answer out loud before writing the word in the field, so the thinking comes before the pencil work.

The shared board keeps the task focused because every question uses the same set of shapes. The clear model and writing fields make the page feel predictable, while the left and right clues add just enough challenge for a useful off-screen math moment.
