Where Are the Shapes? Shape Position Worksheet

Where Are the Shapes? is a Grade 1 math worksheet for shape recognition and position words. The page shows one shared board with six shapes, then asks children to find the oval above the square, the square to the left of the hexagon, the rectangle to the left of the square, and the triangle to the right of the oval.

Seven-year-olds often know a square or triangle on its own, but a full board can make shape names feel slippery. The worksheet gives a short, calm way to practice looking carefully, holding one clue in mind, and matching a shape name to a place.

Sit beside your child and read one clue aloud, such as the clue asking what shape is above the square. Ask your child to touch the square first, look above the square, say oval, and then write the word in the field. Repeat the same point, look, say, write rhythm for each clue.

A generic shape page may ask children to name isolated pictures. Where Are the Shapes? keeps every question on the same six-shape board, so children practice scanning, comparing locations, and using the writing fields after a real visual check.
