Where Are the Shapes? Worksheet

Where Are the Shapes? is a one-page kindergarten math worksheet that practices shape recognition and position words on a shared six-shape board. Children look at the board, use clues such as above and right of, then write the missing shape name in each field.

At age five, many children can name a circle or triangle in isolation, but children may stall when shape names and location words show up together. Practice with position clues helps kindergarteners slow down, scan the picture, and connect math words to what the eyes see.

Sit beside your child and read one prompt at a time from the worksheet, such as finding the square above the circle or the hexagon above the triangle. Ask your child to point to the reference shape first, trace a finger above or to the right, and say the answer before writing in the field.

The page keeps all four questions on the same six-shape board, so children do not have to relearn a new picture for every problem. Clear models, side-by-side spacing, and short writing fields make the worksheet useful for a quick lesson, a math center, or quiet parent-child practice.
