Where Are the Shapes? Worksheet

Where Are the Shapes? is a one-page kindergarten math worksheet for shape recognition and position words. Children look at one six-shape board, then write the shape that is right of the square, right of the hexagon, right of the triangle, and left of the oval.

At age 5, children often know shape names in isolation, but kids can stall when a direction word changes the task. Practicing left of and right of with familiar shapes helps children connect math language to what children see on the page.

A parent or teacher can sit beside the child, point to the reference shape, and say, “Find the square. Now look to the right.” After the child names the nearby shape, the child writes the answer in the field. The same routine works for the hexagon, triangle, and oval prompts.

The worksheet stays focused on one shared board instead of jumping between many pictures. Clear models, short prompts, and writing fields make the page feel doable for a five-year-old who needs quick practice with shapes, direction words, and careful looking.
